Europe’s competitiveness depends on having a workforce equipped with the right skills to respond to rapid technological, environmental and economic change. At the same time, many workers are finding it increasingly difficult to keep pace with evolving labour market requirements, while businesses face growing challenges in recruiting people with the qualifications and competences they need.
The Union of Skills initiative has been developed to address these challenges by placing high-quality education, training and lifelong learning at the heart of Europe’s competitiveness agenda. It aims to strengthen both basic and advanced skills, expand opportunities for upskilling and reskilling, support companies in finding qualified workers, and help Europe attract and retain talent.
These priorities are closely reflected in the European project Construction Blueprint 2 – Strategic Alliance for Skills Development under the Pact for Skills in the Construction Sector, in which PEDMEDE participates as a project partner.
The project focuses on identifying current and future skills needs in the construction sector and on strengthening the link between education and training and the actual needs of companies and professionals. Particular attention is given to the skills required for the green and digital transitions of the construction sector.
Through its participation in Construction Blueprint 2, PEDMEDE contributes to the European effort to ensure that the construction workforce is better prepared for the sector’s evolving needs and future challenges.
