Panhellenic Association of Engineers Contractors of Public Works (PEDMEDE) representing the Construction sector in Greece upon its establishment in 1935, covers all the range of companies dealing with the construction of public works. Its members are individuals, contractors of public works as well as technical companies from grade A1 up to grade 7 (the upper grade), classification made by the Greek Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
The Association’s premises are located in Athens. Additionally, PEDMEDE comprises of 15 regional departments, covering all Greek regions and a separate section of Construction Companies.
In the core of its scope, PEDMEDE aims to ensure and promote its members’ interests and welfare in a national and regional level. Within this direction, PEDMEDE is in close cooperation with public authorities, government representatives and key stakeholders representing the Construction sector, forming polices and initiatives and having a leading role in social dialogue. Last but not least PEDMEDE has a crucial role in shaping the national legislative framework concerning the construction sector along with National Public Authorities.
PEDMEDE is the sole Greek Construction Association representing the country in a European level. In particular, PEDMEDE is a statutory member of FIEC (European Construction Industry Federation) member of EIC (European International Contractors), and member of EDA (Εuropean Demolition Association).holding seats in Steering Committees of all entities.
PEDMEDE’s current President, Mr. Michail Daktylidis, holds the position of FIEC’s Vice – President from 2016 to 2022, being for this mandate also President of ECF (European Construction Forum), later renamed Construction 2050, as of the European initiative “Construction 2050 – Building tomorrow’s Europe today”.
Additional key statutory scopes and activities of PEDMEDE are facilitating the transfer of knowledge, experience, know-how, expertise and good practices on its areas of its specialization and providing training activities to employees and workers in the Construction sector and the industry, in the key areas of BIM (Building Information Modelling), Digitalization, Circular Economy, Energy Efficiency along with ensuring the effective adoption of the European policies and initiatives in a National level, namely concerning priorities related to sustainable development, the EU Green Deal, Renovation Wave and so on. To this end, PEDMEDE acts as a key stakeholder for providing feedback and input from the Greek construction labor market perspective and is strongly involved in related initiatives and EU projects and programs.
