With great success, the informational event entitled “Micro-Credentials in the Construction Sector: Shaping the Path Towards the Green Transition” took place today, within the framework of the European project Green Circle, in which PEDMEDE is a key partner.
The event was co-organized by the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH), PEDMEDE (Panhellenic Association of Engineers Contractors of Public Works), and Active Citizens Partnership (ACP).
During the event, the Green Circle project was presented in detail. The project aims to develop, test, and evaluate an innovative micro-credentialing system for green skills in the construction sector, making a substantial contribution to the Sustainable Green Transition.
The project, implemented by 11 partners from 4 European countries (Germany, Greece, Portugal, and Spain), focuses on identifying the skills needed for the future of the construction industry, mapping and analyzing professional profiles, and developing 8 pilot micro-credentials, which will be tested in the participating countries.
During the event:
- European tools for skills recognition were presented, such as the Europass European Digital Credentials for Learning (EDC).
- Best practices and innovation examples from the geosynthetics and insulation sectors were highlighted.
- The skills required for the transition towards a more sustainable and green construction industry were discussed.
- Contributions were made by institutional stakeholders, such as the Technical Chamber of Greece – TEE Thrace and PEDMEDE ECO.
The event concluded with an open discussion and exchange of views, laying the foundations for the next implementation phases and dissemination of the project results both in Greece and internationally.
