Commissioner Simson acknowledges FIEC paper on Renovation Wave
Telling the FIEC General Assembly last week that she was pleased to see a number of things in the FIEC position paper on the Renovation Wave, European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, said that energy efficiency was the way forward. She added that the move to a low carbon, competitive economy was a tremendous opportunity but also an urgent necessity. Thanking the Commissioner, FIEC President Thomas Bauer said that the Federation and its members stand behind the EU’s climate goals, but admitted they will not be easy to achieve. The European Parliament calls for a European Social Security Number
Last week the European Parliament adopted a report in which it asked the European Commission to present a legislative proposal for a European Social Security Number, as soon as possible. This European Social Security Number should reinforce national social security numbers and enable the exchange of information between Member States. The main objective remains to be able to quickly check the affiliation of the worker to relevant social security systems and to reinforce controls.
