Adoption of the « Goods Package » by the European Parliament
On the 3rd of September, the IMCO Committee adopted the « Goods Package » which aims to strengthen controls by national authorities on compliance of harmonised products. Its goals are also to facilitate market access for non-harmonised products based on the mutual recognition principle. The package contains a proposal for a Regulation on the mutual recognition of goods lawfully marketed in another Member State and a proposal for a Regulation laying down rules and procedures for compliance with and enforcement of Union harmonisation legislation on products. These include construction products. The package is subject to a final vote by the European Parliament in plenary in October.
FIEC partner of the European Vocational Skills Week 2018
The 3rd European Vocational Skills Week (EVSW), organised by the European Commission, will take place in Vienna (Austria) from 5 to 9 November 2018. Through the EVSW, which targets learners (young and adults), parents, big enterprises, SMEs, VET centres, schools, guidance services, social partners, etc. the European Commission wants to raise awareness of the wide range of opportunities available through VET, and encourage more people to participate and learn about what it has to offer.
In addition to the events to be organised by the European Commission and the Austrian presidency, national, regional and local events will take place associated with the EVSW. Any interested stakeholder can get involved and register events and activities from 1 September 2018 through to the end of the year.
FIEC is an official partner of this initiative and will organise the final conference of the Social Dialogue “VET4LEC” project, undertaken jointly with the EFBWW and co-financed by the European Commission (DG EMPL), on 6/11/2018 in Brussels.
