COUNCIL adopts Recommendation on vocational education and training (VET)

On 24 November, the COUNCIL adopted a Recommendation on vocational education and training (VET) for sustainable competitiveness, social fairness and resilience.

The COUNCIL praises the national VET systems for their capacity to train young people to access the labour market more easily. It also highlights the fact that national VET systems will be at the heart of providing digital and green skills for people, to prepare them for the twin transition.

Amongst others things, it recommends to Member States that they reinforce the inclusiveness of VET, promote EU VET systems at international level, keep it flexible to labour market changes, make it a driver of innovation and growth, increase its attractiveness thanks to modernised and digitalised training, further increase its quality, as well as the quality of apprenticeships.
