What role for infrastructure spending in the national stimulus packages?

 

The European Union Road Federation (ERF), the Confederation of International Contractors’ Associations (CICA), the French Federation for Public Works (FNTP), Routes de France and FIEC have joined forces to produce a benchmark study entitled “Mobility and Recovery in Europe: Impacts of the Covid-19 crisis”. Amongst other things, the study screens national recovery and resilience plans with respect to public expenditure for transport infrastructure.

Construction Social Partners start new EU project on third country companies and workers

On 22 September, FIEC and EFBWW will launch their new joint EU project “FELM” – for a better Functioning of the European Labour Market.
The starting point of this project is the common acknowledgement of the growing number of third country national companies and workers on the European construction labour market.
The main objective of the project is to assess the specific (social and economic) challenges linked to this new situation and potentially present a series of recommendations.
The project will last until Spring 2023.

BIM for Building Renovation Competition

 

Launched in June 2021 the EU BIM for Building Renovation competition is still open for registration! The competition aims to bring together multidisciplinary teams composed of professionals and students active in the design and construction sector.
With no charge for entry, the EU BIM for Building Renovation Competition is split in two categories, one for design and construction professionals and another for students. Registration remains open until 21 October 2021.

EU Taxonomy – Opportunities and risks for construction

 

As a Member of the Platform on Sustainable Finance, FIEC adopted a one-pager on the EU Taxonomy and what it means for the construction sector. With FIEC mainly working on the future technical screening criteria, this paper now deals with the broader picture. As the EU Taxonomy will become a reality in 2022, we are outlining the opportunities and risks it entails for our sector.
