Renovation Wave: the case of the Italian Superbonus 110%

This summer the Italian government launched the Superbonus, a new measure allowing for a tax deduction of up to 110% for spending on energy efficiency and seismic risk reduction as well as on photovoltaic systems or infrastructure for charging electric vehicles in buildings. This measure was mentioned as a “Best Practice” by the EU Commission during the presentation of the Renovation Wave on the 14 October. You can find more information in English on the Superbonus 110% below, or contact our Italian Member Federation ANCE.

Launch of Parliamentary Intergroup

On 26 October, the launch event for the parliamentary intergroup on sustainable, long-term investments and competitive European industry took place bringing together high-level speakers, including European Commission Vice-President Frans Timmermans.

Created as a platform for exchange between MEPs and societal stakeholders, intergroups are cross-party groupings that bring together MEPs interested in particular topics.

This is the first intergroup focused on EU industry from a competitiveness and sustainability perspective.

Work Programme 2021 will keep FIEC busy

The new Commission Work Programme for 2021 will certainly keep FIEC busy.  In a plan that gives the European Green Deal top billing, more than half of the measures proposed under «Fit for 55»- a pun on the new climate target – fall under FIEC’s priorities, including the expected revision of the Energy Performance in Buildings Directive.  Many social measures feature, such as the European ID and more on the European Pillar of Social Rights.  In the area of digitalisation, we see the Data Act and measures on distributed ledger technology (e.g. blockchain). The revision of the CPR, long expected, is also critical for contractors and the consultation earlier this year marked a long period of frenetic activity for FIEC.  Although not specifically mentioned, taxonomy is the source of many of the initiatives.  FIEC was recently granted a place on the Platform for Sustainable Finance, so we are well placed to work on these items.
