Work Programme 2021 will keep FIEC busy

The new Commission Work Programme for 2021 will certainly keep FIEC busy.  In a plan that gives the European Green Deal top billing, more than half of the measures proposed under “Fit for 55”- a pun on the new climate target – fall under FIEC’s priorities, including the expected revision of the Energy Performance in Buildings Directive.  Many social measures feature, such as the European ID and more on the European Pillar of Social Rights.  In the area of digitalisation, we see the Data Act and measures on distributed ledger technology (e.g. blockchain). The revision of the CPR, long expected, is also critical for contractors and the consultation earlier this year marked a long period of frenetic activity for FIEC.  Although not specifically mentioned, taxonomy is the source of many of the initiatives.  FIEC was recently granted a place on the Platform for Sustainable Finance, so we are well placed to work on these items. The Commission Work Programme can be found by following the link below.
