First year of membership in the EU Platform on Sustainable Finance

In October 2020, FIEC was appointed as a member of the Platform on Sustainable where we are represented by Pekka Vuorinen from our Finnish Member Federation. At this point, we want to thank Pekka for the excellent work done over the last year and for his outstanding engagement for FIEC.

Given the fast growing importance of sustainable finance and the EU Taxonomy in particular, FIEC’s membership in the Platform is essential. This is even more the case as FIEC is the only organisation representing the construction industry in the Platform.

Together with our colleagues from the European institutions, NGOs and the financial sector we will continue to ensure our commitment to deliver sustainability criteria which will drive forward the transition in the construction industry.

FIEC will be present at next Tripartite Social Summit

On 20th October, FIEC Vice-President Joël Schons will participate in the European Tripartite Social Summit. The Tripartite Social Summit is a forum for dialogue between the EU institutions at President level and the European social partners at top management level. The summit is co-chaired by the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission. The title of the Summit is Transforming Europe’s recovery into long-term sustainable growth supporting more and better jobs.
On this occasion, the EU social partners will be invited to present their views on their role in the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plans, on the twin climate and digital transitions and on how to ensure sustainable work (including skills, active labour market policies, social security systems).
