FIEC President promotes visibility of infrastructure projects at MEDEF workshop

On 5th April, FIEC President Jean-Louis Marchand chaired a workshop organised by  MEDEF (the largest French employers’ association), with the support of FIEC, in Brussels. It gathered representatives from the European Commission (DG ECFIN), the European Investment Bank, the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, several French regions, associations of regional and local authorities, as well as the German BDI and the Italian Confindustria.
The event was focused on the crucial issue of providing more visibility to infrastructure projects. Indeed, it came out of the debates that private investors have difficulties in identifying the needs, in terms of project investment. While the European Investment Projects Portal (EIPP) launched by the European Commission in June 2016 aims at filling this gap, regional representatives agreed that it requires better adaptation to regional needs in order to add value for all users (i.e. project promoters and private investors).
The next step is to launch a pilot phase in the few French regions interested in this experiment, which could then be replicated in other EU countries.

FIEC a partner in the EU-OSHA campaign “Healthy Workplaces for All Ages”

Recently FIEC received the official “partner certificate” for the EU-OSHA campaign 2016-2017 on “Healthy workplaces for all ages”, from Commissioner Marianne Thyssen. The main objectives of this campaign are promoting sustainable work and healthy ageing from the start of working life, preventing health problems throughout working life, providing ways for employers and workers to manage occupational safety and health in the context of an ageing workforce and encouraging the exchange of information and good practice. These objectives are of key importance for the construction sector, in particular in the light of an ageing workforce and of difficulties in several Member States in attracting and retaining young people. Possible joint initiatives in the framework of the EU sectoral  social dialogue are being discussed.
