{"id":40881,"date":"2026-03-06T13:37:56","date_gmt":"2026-03-06T11:37:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pedmede.gr\/?p=40881"},"modified":"2026-03-06T13:42:26","modified_gmt":"2026-03-06T11:42:26","slug":"key-findings-on-skills-gaps-in-the-green-digital-and-circular-transition-of-the-construction-sector-in-the-framework-of-the-european-excel4housing4-0-project-in-which-pedmede-participates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pedmede.gr\/en\/key-findings-on-skills-gaps-in-the-green-digital-and-circular-transition-of-the-construction-sector-in-the-framework-of-the-european-excel4housing4-0-project-in-which-pedmede-participates\/","title":{"rendered":"Key findings on skills gaps in the green, digital, and circular transition of the construction sector, in the framework of the European EXCEL4HOUSING4.0 project , in which PEDMEDE participates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"186\" data-end=\"498\">Within the framework of the European\u00a0 <strong data-start=\"231\" data-end=\"251\">EXCEL4HOUSING4.0 project<\/strong>, in which <strong data-start=\"262\" data-end=\"273\">PEDMEDE<\/strong> participates, a series of online roundtables were held to identify the <strong data-start=\"359\" data-end=\"420\">skills needs and gaps in the European construction sector<\/strong> in relation to the green, digital, and circular transition.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"500\" data-end=\"740\">Around 100 participants from organizations, universities, businesses, and vocational training institutions across Europe took part in the discussions, alongside PEDMEDE guests representing the construction sector.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"742\" data-end=\"846\">The results of the roundtables have now been published and are presented in the following reports:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"848\" data-end=\"1383\"><a href=\"https:\/\/excel4housing.eu\/results\/#flipbook-df_318\/1\/\"><strong data-start=\"848\" data-end=\"941\">Key findings related to skills needs and gaps in Energy Efficiency and Net Carbon Housing<\/strong><\/a><br data-start=\"941\" data-end=\"944\" \/>The report highlights that the <strong data-start=\"975\" data-end=\"1017\">skills gap constitutes a major barrier<\/strong> to achieving the decarbonisation targets of buildings. Particular emphasis is placed on the need for <strong data-start=\"1119\" data-end=\"1147\">interdisciplinary skills<\/strong> that combine technical knowledge with understanding of regulatory frameworks, as well as on <strong data-start=\"1240\" data-end=\"1302\">training in quality assurance and performance verification<\/strong> to bridge the gap between designed and actual energy performance of buildings.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1385\" data-end=\"1837\"><a href=\"https:\/\/excel4housing.eu\/results\/#flipbook-df_312\/1\/\"><strong data-start=\"1385\" data-end=\"1475\">Key findings related to skills needs and gaps in Digital Transition and Digitalization<\/strong><\/a><br data-start=\"1475\" data-end=\"1478\" \/>The report notes that the digital transition in construction is not only about adopting new technologies but primarily involves an <strong data-start=\"1609\" data-end=\"1655\">organizational and cultural transformation<\/strong> of the sector. The need for strengthening <strong data-start=\"1698\" data-end=\"1722\">basic digital skills<\/strong>, reskilling programs, and new professional roles capable of managing data, BIM, and digital tools is emphasized.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1839\" data-end=\"2234\"><a href=\"https:\/\/excel4housing.eu\/results\/#flipbook-df_308\/1\/\"><strong data-start=\"1839\" data-end=\"1908\">Key findings related to skills needs and gaps in Circular Economy<\/strong><\/a><br data-start=\"1908\" data-end=\"1911\" \/>This report focuses on the challenges and opportunities of the circular economy in the construction sector, highlighting that the transition to circular models requires <strong data-start=\"2080\" data-end=\"2124\">new skills across the entire value chain<\/strong>, reinforcement of education and training, and dissemination of <strong data-start=\"2188\" data-end=\"2231\">good practices and innovative solutions<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2236\" data-end=\"2536\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The conclusions of the discussions will be used in the next stages of the project for the development of <strong data-start=\"2341\" data-end=\"2403\">innovative educational programs and training methodologies<\/strong>, contributing to the strengthening of the skills needed for the green and digital transition of the European construction ecosystem.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Within the framework of the European\u00a0 EXCEL4HOUSING4.0 project, in which PEDMEDE participates, a series of online roundtables were held to identify the skills needs and gaps in the European construction sector in relation to the green, digital, and circular transition.
