A significant moment for the construction industry in Greece and across Europe was the FIEC Conference, the European Construction Industry Federation, which was organized with great success and significant international impact by PEDMEDE at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center!
With the central theme “Building Tomorrow: Solutions for Water Resilience and Blue Infrastructure” and focusing on water resilience, the event highlighted the crucial role of construction in addressing the water crisis, risk prevention, and the need for “blue” infrastructure and innovation.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Mr. Christos Dimas, and the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and Government Spokesperson, Mr. Pavlos Marinakis, honored the Conference with their presence, delivering greetings and targeted speeches, recognizing the need for investment in the design and implementation of important projects for blue infrastructure.
At the same time, keynote speakers Mr. Piero Petrucco, President of FIEC, emphasized the strategic importance of “blue” infrastructure for Europe’s resilience, while Mr. Konstantinos Goliopoulos, President of PEDMEDE & Vice-President of FIEC, referred to the need for institutional support and active participation of the sector in infrastructure policies.

- Mr. Paul Rübig, former Member of the European Parliament and EESC expert on the Blue Deal

- Mrs. Sophie Cahen, Director of Environmental Affairs at FNTP
The participation, coordination, and interventions of academics Anastasios Stamou, Simos Malamis, and Christos Makropoulos in the workshop sessions, ensured their smooth running, providing substantial, well-documented policy proposals for the infrastructure of tomorrow.
The contribution of the event coordinator, Mr. Laurentiu Plosceanu, was also substantial and crucial.
